Condensafe Original Refill
CONDENSAFE + REFILL
Condensafe+ is an in-line unit which neutralises the acidic waste from condensing boilers.
The device:
- Effectively neutralises acid waste.
- Helps protect the environment.
- Has a replaceable acid neutraliser.
- Is easy to clean and maintain.
- Fits all domestic condensing boilers.
- Does not affect boiler operation.
The unit’s neutralisation media is contained in its own special bag which should be extracted and replaced via a screw cap access point at the top of the unit. This makes the process quick and easy and means that, unlike some other products, it is not necessary to replace the entire unit to ensure ongoing neutralisation, reducing maintenance costs.
When should I replace the neutralisation media?
This should be done once a year, during your annual boiler service.
Why do I need a Condensafe+?
In condensing boilers, the hot flue gases are used to pre-heat the water in the boiler, instead of simply being exhausted through the flue as waste heat. This improves the efficiency of the boiler, but forms an acidic condensate which is often simply discharged into the normal domestic drain. The average domestic condensing boiler can produce 800 litres of acid per year at about pH 4.0.
Guidance in many countries requires that effluent is discharged to municipal sewers and water courses at between pH 6.5 and pH 10.0. This protects micro-organisms used in the biological purification processes in the septic tank or in the local water treatment plant. It also lessens damage to the infrastructure of the drainage system and helps to protect the environment as a whole. The effects of acidic condensate discharge are usually overlooked, an issue addressed with Condensafe+.
How To Refill Condensafe+
Your Condensafe+ Acid Neutraliser bag should be replaced every 12 months, during your annual boiler service.
Unscrew cap and remove used neutraliser from the Condensafe+ unit. This can be safely disposed of with household waste.
Remove lid from refill pack tube. DO NOT take the neutraliser bag out of the tube.
Place the refill tube directly into the unit, the neutraliser bag should slide easily into place.
Ensure the refill is correctly seated inside the unit and does not block the outlet pipe.
Replace cap, ensuring it is sealed, but do not over tighten.
In some cases, the cardboard tube may be absent or damaged. To refill without the tube if the neutraliser bag is misshapen and will not easily slide into the unit, use the following instructions:
Unscrew cap and remove used neutraliser from the Condensafe+ unit. This can be safely disposed of with household waste.
Reshape the replacement neutraliser bag by squeezing contents to one end and place the thinner end into the unit.
Knead the refill into place.
The refill should then slide into place.
Ensure the refill is correctly seated inside the unit and does not block the outlet pipe.
Replace cap, ensuring it is sealed, but do not over tighten.
Wash your hands.
